Updated: Jan 5

During Ramadan, Sunnahs refer to the practices or recommendations of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that are not obligatory but are strongly encouraged. Some specific Sunnahs related to fasting and Ramadan are as follows:

1. Take Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) :

It is recommended not to skip this meal, even if it is something light, because it brings blessings. The Prophet said: “Take Suhoor, because there is blessing in Suhoor.” (Hadith reported by Bukhari and Muslim).

2. Breaking the fast as soon as the sun sets :

3. Breaking the fast with dates and water :

4. Recite an invocation when breaking the fast :

5. Performing additional prayers (Salat Al-Tarawih) :

6. Read and meditate on the Quran :

7. Show generosity :

These acts, although not obligatory, bring many blessings and help one make the most of the month of Ramadan.
